Letter from MAHP's Interim Chair

Welcome to our 2025 Massachusetts Association of Health Plans (MAHP) Annual Conference, Health Care at the Crossroads – How Federal and State Policies are Impacting Change. I’m honored to be Acting Chair of MAHP Board of Directors and excited to have so many of you in attendance this year.

MAHP comprises thirteen health plans and one behavioral health organization. Together we provide health care coverage to more than three million Massachusetts residents. We also have 32 Affiliate Members from organizations that are involved with the health care system in Massachusetts. MAHP members regularly come together to discuss health care issues affecting those we serve, including the overwhelming majority of MassHealth members enrolled in the Managed Care Organizations, Senior Care Options and One Care programs. As health plans, we know that our members seek high-quality, affordable coverage that delivers peace of mind and empowers them to live a productive and fulfilling life.

Massachusetts is proud to have the highest rates of health insurance coverage in the nation. However, health care affordability remains a critical challenge in our state. Over the past few years, we have seen health care costs grow at rates that exceed the Commonwealth’s cost growth benchmark, impacting public payors, employers and individuals purchasing insurance coverage. It’s more important than ever that providers, health plans, businesses, individuals, lawmakers and policymakers come together to rein in the identified cost drivers and begin to bend the health care cost trend.

I know that today’s program will address these important and timely issues.

Thank you for being here today. I hope you enjoy the conference and can connect with other attendees, engage in meaningful discussion and exchange ideas to move the conversation forward.

Sincerely,

William Graham
